The second Institute for Learning & Brain Sciences Summer Institute for Educators was held in the summer of 2007, led by LIFE scientists Patricia Kuhl and Andrew Meltzoff. It is designed to give teachers the latest research on children’s learning abilities, and to facilitate an exchange of ideas between teachers and researchers.

Teachers were in the first 5 years of their careers (a time when many teachers are vulnerable to leaving the profession) and chosen from schools whose students represent a diverse ethnicities and socioeconomic status.

Andrew Meltzoff and Patricia Kuhl led a workshop for Legislative members of the Committee on Early Learning and Children’s Services from the Washington State Capitol. This bipartisan group of 23 lawmakers engaged with scientists around the topics of early learning and school readiness.
