NCSL.jpg Before a national audience of legislators, economists, and educators Andrew Meltzoff and Patricia Kuhl, LIFE Leaders on Implicit Learning & Brain, delivered addresses at the 2005 National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL). Meltzoff’s and Kuhl’s talks focused on scientific advances in developmental cognitive neuroscience and early learning. They also spoke about a role for basic research in early learning to impact outreach and translational initiatives, and the need for such outreach to be based on sound science.

The audience of 300 attendees was comprised of legislators, teachers, economists, and representatives of philanthropic organizations.

NCSL is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the nation’s 50 states. NCSL provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas about issues of importance for the nation’s citizens, including recent advances in science and technology, and education.
